In 2014, State Grid Corporation of China carried out 37 S&T projects about the smart distribution grid and active distribution network, including 16 intellectualization projects, 7 distributed power grid access projects and 3 micro grid projects.
The reconstruction of high reliability demonstration projects in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing, Shandong, Qingdao, Fujian, Xiamen have been completed. The reliability rate of power supply reached 99.999% in these projects. And the construction of based distribution automation projects in 24 city has completed. The demonstration application of self-healing-control smart distribution grid system, information interaction and intelligent distribution terminal supporting platform is implemented.
New kind of urbanization provides the development of smart grid with new challenges. Urbanization will become an important engine of future economic growth of China. Informatization will parallel urbanization. In order to improve informatization, smart meter will surely be spread widely because traditional mechanical metering cannot satisfy the requirement of collecting information in time. It is required that smart meter should be used in the conservation-minded society. From time-of-user pricing to ladder-like water pricing, then to condo heating metering, traditional mechanical meters cannot satisfy the need of time-share and sections. It has important significance for the promotion of smart consumption interactive services that smart meter could support interaction functions.
